Tylor first really started collecting when Firehrose Films was selling their assets from their series Radiradirah where Tylor bought the majority of sets, props and costumes. He first opened up his collection in his own museum titled The Movie and Television Museum. Originally opened for the Christmas holidays in 2012 behind the old Waipu fire station in Waipu, New Zealand.
